Ingredients
- Applewood Signature® Organic Redskin Peanuts – 300g
- Neutral flavoured oil
- Sea salt (optional)
Method
- Place the peanuts in a strainer / colander and rinse under water. Drain well and spread the peanuts out in a single layer to air-dry for approximately 30 minutes.
- Add the air-dried peanuts to a wok, cover them with enough oil, and heat on a medium-low setting. Carefully push the peanuts around to heat them evenly and to prevent burning. Start with cold oil and low heat before using a generally low heat throughout the frying process.
- Continue pushing the peanuts around the wok, listening out for small popping noises as you go. The peanuts are done once you notice the peanut shells turning a darker shade. The popping sound would’ve stopped too. The total fry time should be between 7 to 12 minutes.
- For the last few minutes of cooking time, turn off the heat and leave the peanuts to cook in hot oil to prevent the risk of burning.
- Strain the peanuts out of the oil and spread them out in a single layer on a baking sheet or plate to cool.
- Toss the peanuts with salt (optional)
- Enjoy!
